Training Catalogue

The IRRC is working to develop a comprehensive training catalogue focused on inclusion and inclusion services for recreation providers. Our expanding collection of training resources will support organizations at every stage of their inclusion journey, from foundational awareness to advanced implementation strategies for creating more inclusive environments.

Inclusion U

Inclusion U is a comprehensive, 10-hour, training program designed to prepare participants to become Certified Inclusivity Assessors (CIAs) for the Inclusive Recreation Resource Center. The course covers seven core modules: introduction to the center’s mission, understanding inclusion principles, disability awareness using person-first language, assessment methodology, physical accessibility evaluation, administrative inclusion practices, and programmatic inclusion strategies. Upon completion, participants gain the skills to use the Inclusivity Assessment Tool (IAT) to evaluate recreation facilities, programs, and services for accessibility and inclusion. The training ensures consistent, accurate assessment of both physical and social accessibility, ultimately contributing to a comprehensive online recreation database that helps individuals with disabilities make informed decisions about recreation opportunities in their communities.
